Aveeno Fresh Essentials Review & Giveaway!

Hello, my lovelies! I am writing to you post-midterm and post post-midterm nap (that was necessary).

Can I just say that I love being able to review different skincare products for you guys?! I know it seems like I’m bouncing around all over the place, but my skin adapts and reacts to skincare pretty quickly, so it makes reviewing skincare less timely and more fun. I also think that there’s so many different skincare products out there that it’s fun to try everything so different. Sometimes not so fun when you have a bad reaction, but that hasn’t happened to me in a few years, luckily. I can usually tell by looking at ingredients and information of products if I will have a reaction or not. 🙂

I wanted to get this review and giveaway up for you guys because It’s been a bit since I’ve posted. I blame on that on the ridiculous amount of reading I had to do to prepare for my midterm. But now I get to offer you guys something super awesome! A chance to win this set of Aveeno Fresh Essentials skin care products!

Included in this set is the Aveeno Fresh Essentials Nourishing Moisturizer with SPF 30, Hydrating Night Cream, and Daily Exfoliating scrub.

Before I go in depth about these products, I will let you know that I received these complimentary to sample them. I was sent an extra set of products that I decided to give to a friend and had her try them with me. The reason I did that is because she has very different skin from me, but it’s still sensitive like mine. Her skin is oily and sensitive, and mine is combination to dry (especially in this -50C weather) but also sensitive, so I wanted a well-rounded review for you.

Without further ado, Let me talk in depth about these products for you, so you know what you’re getting!

The Nourishing Moisturizer is a great moisturizer for sensitive skin in need of sunscreen. I generally don’t wear SPF moisturizers, but I’m trying to get into them because I’m nearing 30 and I need to take care of that stuff, if you know what I’m sayin’. This moisturizer is very thick in consistency but lightweight, so it absorbs into the skin very beautifully. I was a bit worried that it would be too thick for my combination/dry skin, but it soaks in great. I am very impressed with this moisturizer–especially for the price point. My friend who has oilier skin than me mentioned that she was also surprised at how well this worked on her skin.

I usually go back and forth between products in my cabinet for my night time moisturizer. Generally, I choose something a bit heavier for overnight moisture. After I was sent these products, I decided to use this night cream on a regular basis for a while to see the full results. It’s a thicker cream than the Nourishing Moisturizer, but it still absorbs great.  My skin is a lot less dehydrated in the mornings lately due to this and my increased consumption of water.

The Daily Exfoliating Scrub had me curious when I received it. Usually, exfoliating scrubs make my skin feel like it’s burning and I can only use it every other day at most. This scrub is very gentle. If you need a gentle exfoliant, I recommend this one. It cleanses and exfoliates the skin without feeling like it’s scraping your face off (although, sometimes I like those kinds of scrubs). I will say this again: this is very gentle. My friend mentioned that this was her favorite product out of the bunch. I can’t quite decide, but I am impressed with this scrub.

These products are all infused with anti-oxidants and vitamins to help battle everyday skin issues and replenish the feel and look of your skin. I was a bit skeptical of these at first because they are drugstore products, but I’ve had great success with Aveeno products in the past–especially for my sensitive skin. The only thing I will point out for my readers is that the scent of these products is rather strong. I personally like the scent and think it smells great, but my other friend who tried the products had to get used to it because she’s used to unscented products. She did mention that it didn’t change the way her skin reacted to the products.

One disclaimer I will mention: you might see me on Twitter complaining about eczema on my face. This is not due to these products. It’s not just on my face–it’s on my arms too. It happens to me almost every winter (since I moved back to Canada anyway), and the weather has been bouncing between -10C and -40C for the past couple of weeks, so my skin is reacting to it. It’s sad because the eczema on my face is also on my lip, so I can’t wear pretty lipstick. That hurts my heart.

Onto the giveaway! US and overseas readers: please don’t hate me. I’m hoping to have some other stuff to giveaway for you guys in the near future. This is Canada-only. If you’re under 18, please ask your parents for permission to enter. Good luck, lovelies!
