The Q MAX FACIAL: My First Microdermabrasion

Hello, my fellow skincare junkies! I have a soft spot in my heart for all things skincare–products, articles, theories, treatments–you name it. I received the Q MAX FACIAL complementary for review at Q Esthetics here in Toronto. They have a few locations throughout the GTA, and I ended up at the location in Yorkville.

About the Q MAX FACIAL

I’ve never had microdermabrasion done before, so I was excited for this opportunity. The Q MAX FACIAL is set up to exfoliate away damaged skin cells while infusing your skin with vitamins and nutrients tailored to your skin. Pretty cool, right? I’ve heard that microdermabrasion can be slightly uncomfortable. It’s exfoliates while vacuuming out all the gunk left in your pores, so I could see how that would be uncomfortable. While this facial exfoliates and vacuums, it immediately applies the vitamins and nutrients via serums at the same time, so the discomfort isn’t really there.

After the exfoliating and infusing of the skin, a laser is used to increase the circulation of the skin and rid the skin of toxins. The light is incredibly bright, but they cover the eye area pretty efficiently so as to not damage your eyesight, and they warned me of the brightness before it was applied.

These pictures haven’t been altered except for the white-balance and tone due to the bad lighting in my apartment.

Benefits of this treatment include:
  • Decrease in pore size, redness, and pigmentation
  • Volumizes and reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hydrating the skin with nutrient-rich infusions
  • Stimulates healthy cell renewal
  • Increase lymphatic activity and circulation

My Thoughts

I didn’t notice a huge difference in pore size, but they were a bit smaller than before. What I noticed mostly was how my skin glowed and how the texture felt. It felt so much healthier and cleaner than before. The pigmentation around the scarring on the right side (left side in the pictures) of my face was reduced considerably. I also noticed that my smile lines were a little less prominent.

This treatment was definitely luxurious, and I felt amazing after. The staff were helpful, kind, and very informative. When I came home, my boyfriend said, “Your skin actually looks different. Like you’ve slept for days.” Which is great because this was when I wasn’t sleeping at all. Even though this treatment was complementary, I was quoted $325CAD if I paid. This is pricey, but if you have the means to do it, I would recommend it. I’m incredibly happy with my results.
