October Favorites!

Hi, everyone! Normally, I would make this a video–in fact, I had a video but it’s unusable due to me coughing so much in it–but due to my sickness, I decided to make this a regular post. And look! Pictures! Between yesterday and today, my energy level has doubled and while I’m still congested, I’m not coughing near as much. I even went shopping today. To a real store! 😛

Anyways, let’s get into the products. I have tried a lot of things over the course of October, and there were some real winners. Let’s start with skincare products because if you want your makeup to look flawless, it starts with the state of your skin!

First up, we have a couple of products from Origins. I have been leaning heavily on the Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores to, well, clear my pores. I spoke about this in my skincare video, so I won’t go too much into detail, but it’s amazing. If your skin needs deep cleansing or needs a good refresher (I probably wouldn’t recommend it for dry skin), pick this up. In love! The other product I picked up by Origins is the GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. I was super busy in October and not sleeping much due to my heavy workload, and this is just a beautiful eye cream that brightens my skin under the eyes and makes me look a lot less tired. I generally use this only in the morning as I use my Consonant Skincare eye cream at night.

Moving onto primer. Benefit Porefessional has changed the way I feel about my makeup. Big pores have always been an issue for me, and nothing has really helped until this product right here. It has a silky smooth feeling, and it makes my foundation go on very smoothly. I know I am late to the party on this one as it is super popular, but this is a game changer for me.

Staying within the Benefit brand, I have Gimme Brow. If you are new to filling in your eyebrows, I highly suggest picking this up. It create fibers by sticking to your current brow hairs and your skin and it instantly makes your brows look even and fuller in one step. I have very dark, very big brows naturally. I have a pencil that I use every now and then by Anastasia Beverly Hills, but the Gimme Brow is just perfect for my everyday looks and looks where I don’t want my brows to be too bold–but bold enough. The brush is super tiny too, so it’s very easy to work with. If you are looking for something to make your brows have a bit more oomph but still look naturally bold, this is the product for you. Again, game changer.

I have spent forever looking for a great concealer. I used MAC Pro Longwear Concealer for a while, and it’s a great product, but the dispenser is annoying in that the pump gives me way too much product all the time. I definitely gave into the hype for NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer…and I’m so glad I did. I use the color Custard because all of the other colors are too pink for my yellow/olive skintone. NARS is a wonderful brand, so I figured the product would be worth the hype. I was right. It highlights under the eye, which is great because I have dark circles that are stubborn. It doesn’t crease, and the applicator is something that I can build with. I love this concealer and will definitely repurchase.

During October I became a little obsessed with finding new blush. I don’t know why. I wear peach blushes all the time, so I wanted to branch out a little bit. I picked up Tarte Pinup Girl Amazonian Blush Kit. It’s outstanding. All of the blushes are very high quality, highly pigmented, and very smooth. This kit has great colors too with lots of choices of bright pink, peach, red, etc. Really happy I picked this up, but I’m pretty sure it’s sold out now. I can’t find it on the Sephora website or the Tarte website. Tarte has this set as well though.

Last but certainly not least, we have the Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder. I work out on a regular basis (most of the time), and I can’t wash my hair at the gym because drying and fixing it up just takes way too much time. This is where dry shampoo comes in. I am not a huge fan of aerosol spray dry shampoos because it creates this cloud of spray around me and smells very strong. It’s not very locker-room friendly, and I work at the facility, so I need to set an example. This Bumble and Bumble dry shampoo is a sprinkle, but it doesn’t leave tell-tale white marks in my dark hair and it smells divine. It adds more oomph to my hair and makes it more lively while soaking up the excess oils in between washes and after a workout.
