REVIEW: Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer
Hello, beauty lovers! If you watched my GenBeauty Toronto Haul video (or any other attendee’s video), then you would know that I received a full sized product of the Too Faced Cosmetics new Born This Way Concealer. This is described as a radiant concealer formulated with coconut water giving a hydrating punch to the skin.

While at GenBeauty, I got properly matched to my color, and I ended up walking away with Light Medium. Below is a comparison swatch with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard and Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Light Neutral. You can notice how yellow the Too Faced concealer color is compared to the other two swatches.

Below, you can see how wonderfully the concealer blends into the skin. It adds coverage, but it’s not cakey. My left eye has only concealer while my right eye in the picture below is completely naked.

To give myself a better comparison, I paired the concealer with my current go-to under-eye color corrector, Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Corrector in Peach. In the picture below, just the concealer is on my left eye. I have layered it with the color corrector on the right eye.

Of course, I need to show you the finished product with a full face! This is including foundation, color corrector, the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder to set, and then eventually MAC Fix+ and Makeup Forever Setting Spray (I had a long day today).

My thoughts?

I will point out that the doe-foot applicator for the concealer is much more flexible than other concealers. This is a pretty lightweight concealer that blends out really well and doesn’t feel very heavy under the eyes. I did use it to cover up a few blemishes and I liked it. It covered nicely and blended well, despite how yellow the color is.

The concealer settled a little bit in some lines under my eyes. I noticed this when I set the concealer with my Ben Nye Banana Powder rather than the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. This is odd because the Banana Powder tends to hold off the creasing with other concealers. I felt the wear time on this was less than my regular concealer. It did wear well for about 5 hours before it started to break down. This is great for when I’m just going out, but it’s not too realistic for days when I work 8.5 hours and then have an event right after, unfortunately.

At the end of the day, I do like this concealer. It’s lightweight but it covers well, and it blends very easily for days when I just want a little coverage but no foundation. It is incredibly hydrating for the area under the eyes as well.

This concealer will launch on June 15th, 2016, and I hope you’re all able to give it a go!
